Bears Hate J.Crew

From one of my favourite websites - Joe. My. God:
JMG reader Dick snapped the above photo at the J. Crew outlet in Soho. I called the store and the clerk that answered the phone said the slogan is a reference to the "campfire theme" of the window display. She said that she was unaware of the meaning of "bear" in gay circles and that the Columbus Circle store has the same display artist and therefore the same display and window slogan. Still, it seems like an odd word choice. Unless there's a straight window display artist working in Manhattan, which seems rather unlikely. Photo source.

I want Kalinda's Notebook!

I'm a bit of a fan of 'The Good Wife', but even more of a fan of the orange notebook that Kalinda Sharma always carries.

Despite my smart phone, laptop, and iPad Mini, I still like to carry a notebook to take to meetings, jot down to-do lists (and more importantly: tick them off), sketch, take notes and generally use as a record of my business life.

I currently use a RHODIA. I like the feel of their paper - they do make one in orange, but I can never find it in stock - so I am stuck with the designers default: black.

Orange is kind of my signature colour, So Kalinda's notebook is my point of envy.
RHODIA

Moleskin - don't seem to do one in Orange at all. Pinetti do an orange leather cover, but it doesn't look as polished as Kalinda's.

I have a sneaking suspicion that it is not a RHODIA, but HERMÉ. In which case, I'm looking at more than AU$600plus $140 for the refill.

Anyone know of any other options?

HERMÉS

For More: Notemaker.com.au, or if budget is no problem Hermés

UPDATE: I think I just found the prefect Kalinda's notebook!

New App tells you what airlines owe you when they stuff you around

When an airline bumps you from a flight because of overbooking, or when you flight is outragously delayed, there are rules about what an airline owes you,

If you have ever been in this position and had to work out who owes what to whom between airlines, airports, insurance companies, credit card providers, and travel agents, then here is an App that might make it all a bit simpler. No longer will you have to wade through T&C's fine print, or wait on a phone line, while someone somewhere says they may have to 'escalate' your enquiry - and that is if you can actually get someone to answer your call.

AirHelp - a site and phone app might be just what you need.

I'm about to try it, but in the meantime - read this from TechCrunch,
or if your up for it download here from iTunes

Oh - and remember although the App is free, they take 25% of the compensation - but given the time that can be wasted in sorting this kind of stuff out - maybe its worth it.

Thanks Isaac for the tip.

How cool is this version of the Game of Thrones theme tune?

GOT 4 has just reached us here in Australia, with Episode 1 debuting earlier this week.  I am saving a few up so I can have a GOT episode orgy - probably over easter.

But in the meantime - here is the coolest jazz version of the theme tune for you to appreciate. Can't wait for this to turn into an interweb meme, and hear the dance version!

Thanks to Joe.My.God for the tip

Walking Deader Score Card

For those of you who didn't think they liked zombies, but are compelled to watch the Walking Dead - here is a who-killed-what score card - to the end of Season 3.
There are even more gross graphics over at the National Post. Thanks to Joe My God for alerting me.

Temple Run, races towards 20 million downloads - those crazy skull topped monkeys!

If you havn't succumbed to the adrenalin rush of the Temple Run game, then you are not one of the 20 million who have downloaded the app for iPhone and iPad.

The game is free, and pretty simple.  You get to run at increasing speed to avoid the sinister death threatening monkeys. You collect coins, which buy you special powers and different personalities along the way. If your impatient, you can part with actual money to fast-track your upgrade into additional powers.

The model pursued by makers Imangi Studios, is to get maximum take up by offering the app free, and taking a much lower percentage of monetisation by players than most game producers usually do.
Many games make it extremely difficult to complete the later levels or competing directly against other players if you haven’t paid. In contrast, Temple Run focuses on an accessible user experience that boosts retention and sharing, with just 1% choosing to pay. This allowed it to become the top grossing iOS game through massive traction, instead of topping out around 1 million DAU with 4% monetizing like other games.
As the developers say, a hit like this game could fund their endeavours for years.

If your platform is Android - don't worry, the game will be available on that platform soon.
